Nintendo knows that it has a massive fanbase it hasn't radically changed the mechanic behind the handheld PokĪn aspect that has changed quite a bit over time is the battle system, whether it be the introduction of new types in Gold and Silver or double battles in Ruby and Sapphire, and now there is a bit more strategy thrown into the mix.
